Boston Celtics: 2017-18 player grades for Jaylen Brown
Jaylen Brown’s second season with the Boston Celtics was a major success. Here’s a look at his 2017-18 campaign.
Jaylen Brown‘s rookie season didn’t go as many had hoped for with the Boston Celtics. In his second year in the NBA, he stepped up in a major way and looked like a possible candidate for Most Improved Player of the Year. Now that his second season is complete, it’s time to look at some of the strengths and weaknesses of the wing out of California.
Brown is only 21 and looks as if he’ll have a bright future in the NBA. This season he averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Those numbers are almost double in every stat category from his rookie year. Granted, he did get about 13 more minutes per game this year.
Next year, things look to get even better for Brown. The expectations are high because he was the third pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, he improved a lot and the Celtics’ expectations are a lot higher after reaching the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals.
In the playoffs, Brown showed that he has the potential to be a bright lights player who isn’t afraid of the big moment, posting averages of 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.
The future is bright for the young forward and Brown should be able to come in next year and pick up where he left off. Here’s a look at how the 2017-18 season went.
