As Bryan Colangelo and the Philadelphia 76ers part ways, the team must now turn the focus to his replacement. While that could prove to be challenging, here are five candidates that could fill the void.

The Philadelphia 76ers did not need drama this offseason. Surging to the 2018 NBA Playoffs, and on the cusp of attracting star power like LeBron James or Paul George in free agency, this was the ONE year that the team truly needed a “steady as she goes” type of offseason.

Still, things don’t always work out that way. The Ringer had reported earlier of a social media scandal that rocked the Philadelphia 76ers front office. A controversial series of social media accounts targeted Sixers players, coaches, sports writers, and most of all former executive Sam Hinkie.

Those accounts revealed private information about the team and players over the tenure of Bryan Colangelo’s presidency. The disclosures compromised Colangelo’s ability to act on behalf of team.

In the end, resignation was the only possible outcome.

That now leaves a huge void in the Sixers’ front office with both free agency and the 2018 NBA Draft imminent. So what can the team do? For now, Philly is placing those responsibilities into the hands of head coach Brett Brown.

Don’t construe this as instantly hiring a new person, as that is not a good tactic. It just so happens that a little anticipation provides a ready-made list of candidates who can fill that void. In fact, I have five such persons already to go.
