Los Angeles Clippers: Lob City playoff runs ranked from least to most heartbreaking
2013-14
In Doc Rivers’ first season as head coach, the Clippers repeated as division champions and improved in wins, going 57-25. Jordan was having his best season with a league-leading 13.3 rebounds and career-high 2.5 blocks per game. He played more minutes and along with Paul, who averaged a league-best 10.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game, helping them gain the third seed. Jordan’s ascendance made Lob City more legitimate.
The Clippers faced the Warriors and won a chippy first round series in seven games, and advanced to play the Oklahoma City Thunder. With the series tied 2-2, Game 5 was looked at as the critical game of the series. Unfortunately, Paul had two turnovers and an untimely foul in the final 17 seconds. The Clippers blew their lead in the biggest game of the series, losing 105-104.
The Thunder ended up winning Game 6 and the series. Although it was tough, this wasn’t the worst series Clippers fans had to endure. The Thunder were favored since they were a more talented squad with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
