Minnesota Timberwolves: 2017-18 player grades for Jamal Crawford
By Luke Askew
The Minnesota Timberwolves signed Jamal Crawford in July 2017. Let’s go through his season and then give him a grade for the 2017-18 season.
The Minnesota Timberwolves went through a number of changes last offseason. One of the biggest changes they made was acquiring veteran bench scorer Jamal Crawford.
For the last couple years, the Wolves had incredible young talent but lacked veteran leaders to show the young guys how to win. Clearly, Jamal Crawford’s role was going to be bigger than scoring. He was a coach from the bench and a real leader on the floor as well.
When the former Sixth Man of the Year signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he basically signed on for the smallest on-the-court role he’s had in years. This season he averaged 10.3 points per game, which was his lowest output since his second year in the league when he played for the Chicago Bulls. For reference, Crawford is now 38 years old, and when he last scored fewer than 10.3 points per game, he was 21.
Now, let’s go through some of Crawford’s strengths, weaknesses and highlights from the 2017-18 season before giving him his final grade.
