Utah Jazz: Top 10 moments from 2017-18 NBA season
By Simon Smith
4. Midseason obliteration of the Golden State Warriors
With a full three days off leading up to this Jan. 30 game, the Jazz knew there were no excuses for not putting up a good showing against the defending champions. For their part, the Golden State Warriors had a full two days to prepare for the game, thus meaning fatigue and the effects the season were somewhat negligible. However, very few could have predicted what was about to unfold.
While defense is their trademark, the Jazz were simply on fire offensively from the outset, registering their second-highest scoring first half at that point of the season with 69 points. Joe Ingles nailed five triples in the first half, while the Jazz shot 60.9 percent from the field as a team.
This trend continued after the main break, with the Jazz extending their lead to 18 points at the end of the third period. As a result, the Warriors starters played very few minutes in the final quarter, with the Jazz finishing with a 129-99 blowout.

Ricky Rubio starred with 23 points, 11 assists and five rebounds, while Donovan Mitchell and Ingles scored 20 apiece. As a team, the Jazz registered 16 steals on the night, equaling their season high, while also registering 22 deflections — well above their season average of 15.0 per game.
Following the game, coach Snyder was delighted with the performance:
"“I thought we came out, Joe Ingles set the tone with the confidence with which he shot the ball, and I thought that helped our other guys shoot the ball. And Ricky [Rubio] was terrific, not just shooting the ball, but the shots that he took. That’s the best shot selection that he’s had….everyone came in and was shooting the ball great, and that’s what can happen.”"
As it turned out, this hot night for the Jazz was no aberration, forming the third game of an eventual season-high 11-game winning streak.
