Tyus Jones recently finished his third season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Here’s a look at how the product from Duke University fared during the 2017-18 season.

Tyus Jones has never faced terribly high expectations throughout his early NBA career. Being the 24th pick in the draft rarely comes with a lot of pressure, but then again, he may have faced bigger expectations than normal because he was a major reason Duke was able to win a national championship in his only season there.

Thankfully, Jones has had some pressure relieved because of the love he receives in the state of Minnesota — that’s what happens when you’re from Apple Valley, Minnesota. Jones is 22 years old and just finished his third year with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This season, he averaged 5.1 points, 2.8 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He was able to shoot 45.7 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from 3-point range.

In the playoffs, it was a different story. Who would have guessed Tom Thibodeau’s love for Derrick Rose would help the former MVP overtake any Jones’ minutes? Jones wasn’t very good in the playoffs, but you could argue the lack of confidence from his coach and minutes played a part in that.

In the playoffs he averaged just 1.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.3 steals per game. He was only able to shoot 28.6 percent from the field and didn’t make a single 3.

Tyus Jones looks to be just a role player off the bench, but showed improvements this season. Here’s an in-depth look at how the 2017-18 campaign went for him.
