Los Angeles Lakers: 5 veterans to target in 2018 NBA free agency

2. Channing Frye, PF/C — Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers acquired Channing Frye in the deal that sent Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He only suited up in nine games for Los Angeles, averaging 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
His biggest value comes off the court as a leader in the locker room. Frye and Lakers head coach Luke Walton were teammates in college at Arizona. He gets along well with his teammates and the coaching staff. He’s also the only player on the roster with a championship ring.
Frye is a career 38.7 percent shooter from beyond the arc, still making him usable in limited minutes. He’s not going to play in all 82 games, but the Lakers could use Frye in certain situations.
As he approaches the end of his career, with a ring already in his possession, Frye could opt to stay in the most comfortable situation for him.
