Los Angeles Lakers: 5 veterans to target in 2018 NBA free agency
By Dan Lovi
3. Anthony Tolliver, PF — Detroit Pistons
It’s not often a 32-year-old player has the best season of his career in his 12th season in the league. For Anthony Tolliver, career highs in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage and games played allude to just that.
The prototypical stretch-4 shot 43.6 percent from downtown last year, good for seventh-best in the league. Also like Speights, Tolliver was good at drawing charges last season, ranking eighth in the NBA with 18.
Despite playing for nine teams in 12 seasons, Tolliver has only made the playoffs three times and never made it past the first round. Joining the Lakers might be his best bet to play significant minutes while helping a young squad make a postseason run.
Coming off his best season, it will be interesting to see the kind of offers Tolliver receives. Is there a team willing to offer him the mid-level exception, or will the veteran’s minimum be enough to snag the sharpshooting big man? If it’s the latter, the Lakers should get in line and hope Tolliver signs.
