Despite holding a double-digit lead at the half, the Houston Rockets’ spectacular season came to an unfortunate end against the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals. Here are the three takeaways from Clutch City’s postseason finale.

In a winner-take-all affair where the Houston Rockets had their home crowd behind them, the team that finished the regular season with the best record in basketball fell short at the hands of the defending world champions in their quest to reach the 2018 NBA Finals.

Kevin Durant poured in a game-high 34 points, alongside of Stephen Curry‘s 27, to help lead the Golden State Warriors to a 101-92 victory against Houston in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday night.

"“We just didn’t have the same energy that we had in that first half,” Rockets guard James Harden told reporters after the contest. “Our pace…it’s extremely frustrating.”"

Houston, who was without Chris Paul for the second straight contest, led by as many as 15 points in the opening half. This was prior to going ice-cold from downtown in the midst of a 33-point third quarter from Golden State, in which Curry and Durant combined to score 24 points en route to putting the game away completely for good.

Harden led the way for the Rockets with a team-high 32 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals, while Eric Gordon finished the game with 23 points in a valiant effort.
