Despite their best efforts, the Boston Celtics couldn’t claim the Eastern Conference just yet, losing in a gut-wrenching Game 7 on their home court.

All things considered, the 2017-18 season was a terrific one for the Boston Celtics, as they advanced all the way to a Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, only to lose in heartbreak at the hands of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers once again.

Even with the absence of All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, this Celtics team overcame the odds time and time again, proving to us all that LeBron won’t rule the East for much longer.

Heading into Game 7, it looked like Boston would be able to pull out a victory. After all, neither team had won on the road the entire series, and the Celtics were able to build up a lead as large as 12 in the second quarter.

Alas, after everything went right for the C’s throughout the playoffs, it all went wrong at the worst possible time.

James performed heroically once again, but the real kick in the gut for Boston was the starters not named LeBron, as they combined for 47 points, while the Celtics shot just 34.1 percent from the field.

Despite what was overall a fantastic season, that Game 7 defeat will no doubt leave a sour taste in the mouths of Brad Stevens and company, as they came oh-so-close to advancing to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

Some of their flaws are fixable. Others will simply fade with the passing of time. Either way, the Celtics know they let this one slip through their fingers.
