Final grade

It was an up-and-down season for John Wall and it showed in the final outcome. Despite being without him for half the season, the Wizards still managed to clinch the eighth seed in the playoffs.

The Washington Wizards went 20-21 this season without Wall in the rotation, so it’s safe to say he is definitely needed on this roster. It’s the pieces around Wall that may need to be shuffled around.

Marcin Gortat and Ian Mahinmi are due to make a combined $28 million in 2018-19. Gortat is entering the final season on his contract while Mahinmi has two seasons left on a four-year, $64 million deal.

John Wall has already spoken on what he hopes happens in the offseason with this group. They’ve battled depth issues off the bench for the past two seasons and haven’t upgraded their frontcourt at the same time. It will be interesting to see which direction the organization goes after a subpar 2017-18 campaign.
