The Charlotte Hornets have the pleasure of drafting at the No. 55 spot in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft. Here are five options for that pick.

The Charlotte Hornets are in some serious trouble with their roster.

Dwight Howard and Kemba Walker are set to be unrestricted free agents in the summer of 2019 and they have Nicolas Batum on their roster for the next three seasons for roughly $25 million per year.

Ouch.

The Hornets clearly have much bigger issues with their team than second round draft picks, but this doesn’t mean that their second-rounder in the 2018 NBA Draft should be overlooked.

While the history of the No. 55 pick isn’t exactly favorable (with E’Twaun Moore and Patty Mills being the most notable players of late to be selected with that pick), there have been some late second-rounders that have made a dramatic impact in the NBA before. Most recently, it was former Los Angeles Lakers guard and current unrestricted free agent, Isaiah Thomas.

So yeah, the chances that the Hornets get a solid player at No. 55 are pretty low, but that means taking a flyer on a high-upside player is a low-risk, high-reward situation. Maybe, just maybe, they can find a diamond in the rough.

Let’s get going with five players the Hornets should look at with the No. 55 pick.
