2018 NBA Draft: 5 experienced prospects worth targeting
By Connor Harr
2, Jevon Carter, PG — West Virginia
After an extremely productive senior season, Carter shined at the NBA Draft Combine scrimmages as well. He showed his ability to get into the lane and make plays for others. His bulldog mentality and intense yet effective on0ball defense was on full display as Carter was picking up his matchup way before he even crossed the half-court line.
Carter’s quick twitch fibers on defense should allow him to stay with even lightning quick guards, and guard them to the best of his abilities. His offensive game is limited to almost strictly jump shooting and will hold his draft stock out of the first round.
If Carter can prove to consistently get into the lane like he did at the combine, he will hold much more value. Being able to grow into a secondary handler will improve his offensive abilities and will allow him to hold much more offensive value. Make no mistake though, Carter will easily find a roster spot because of his mentality combined with his aggressive and tenacious on-ball defense.
