Philadelphia 76ers: 5 options for pick No. 38 in 2018 NBA Draft
3. Melvin Frazier, SF – Tulane
Before the combine, Tulane’s Melvin Frazier was barely on most people’s radars as anything other than a late second round pick.
That all changed pretty quickly, as Frazier showed himself to be a player many teams are suddenly willing to take a chance on. One of the problems that comes with playing at a school that hasn’t produced an NBA player in over a decade and a half is that no one knows how you’re going to fare against NBA-caliber competition.
Frazier helped answer that question in his combine scrimmages, looking comfortable and confident to the tune of 14 points, four assists and four steals.
Add in his measurements – 6’6″ with shoes, a 40.5 inch vertical leap and a 7’1.75″ wingspan – and it’s not a surprise that some are now considering him a possible first round selection. That hype will probably die down some before the draft, but if he makes it to 38, the Sixers will have a tough time passing up someone who could be the next Robert Covington (someone else who could find himself out of town this summer via trade).
