Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 takeaways from Game 5 vs. Boston Celtics
2. LeBron can get tired
LeBron James played 36 minutes in Game 1, 38 minutes in Game 2, 37 minutes in Game 3, 41 minutes in Game 4 and 39 minutes in Game 5. The high minutes finally got to the King in Game 5 as he admitted postgame he was tired.
According to NBA.com, James said:
"”I had my moments, but I think everybody at this point is tired, worn down whatever the case may be,” he said. ”I was still trying to make plays, put our team in position to win.”"
LeBron went 1-for-6 from the 3-point line and had six turnovers. Along with the inability of the other players to produce, LeBron did not have a good performance himself, which made it hard for the Cavs to come back.
There were flashes from the Cavaliers, but with LeBron not up to par they were not able to overcome the ball-moving Celtics.
LeBron’s defender Jayson Tatum played 40 minutes and had an efficient game with 24 points. He shot 46.7 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from the 3-point line.
Tatum is 20 years old. LeBron is 33 years old. James may be be getting up there in age and after seven straight Finals, if he can’t find another gear, this may be the end of the streak.
