2. Gary Clark, PF/SF — Cincinnati

  • Height: 6’8″
  • Weight: 225 lbs
  • Age: 23 (Senior)

As the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Gary Clark did a bounty of things well. As an upperclassmen, he checks almost every box that a quality basketball player needs to.

With averages of 12.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game, Clark was all over the place for an elite Bearcats squad. He also managed an efficient 52.6 percent clip from the field (43.5 percent from beyond the arc) despite such a featured role.

Clark did whatever Cincinnati needed him to do. From point-forward to catch-and-shoot specialist to small-ball center, Clark was everything, and efficient to boot. For the best team in the American, Clark was the best player.

Players like Clark can fit into virtually any lineup. He is older than most other prospects, but he can also make an immediate impact as — if nothing else — a two-way stretch-4.

Next to the collection of wings and guards on Brooklyn, more versatile frontcourt players are needed. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson fills the starting 4-spot well, but having an offensive threat sub in (or with) RHJ can have an immediate impact on the floor-spacing.

On a team desperate for that, Clark can fit right in and contribute immediately. His high-IQ instincts and veteran-like play will be welcomed on a relatively young roster.
