3. Shooting ability

It is hard to find a role in the NBA today if you cannot shoot the basketball. Doncic is one of the best shooting prospects in the draft. He’s a proven shooter from the international 3-point line, which extends farther out than the college 3-point line.

In EuroLeague play this season, Doncic shot 32.9 percent from deep on 5.2 attempts per game. While his average is not great, some of his shots were probably forced more than he wanted because he plays in such a ball-dominant role.

He has a fabulous array of step-back moves that make him a lethal pull-up threat off the dribble. He often steps back for 3 when he gains a mismatch against a big man. However, he can pull up on guards too, and his 6’8″ height makes it very hard for them to contest his shot even with quality defense.

Usually his step-backs are more methodical, shifting his hips well to create an illusion that he will change directions. This step-back is a quick, calculated and impressive scoring move against Barcelona. It’s also worth noting that he has such a deadly step-back that somebody was able to create a five-minute long YouTube video solely comprised of Doncic step-backs.
