4. Size/playmaking ability

The NBA game is progressing and evolving more and more every year. Even though the game has transitioned into more “small-ball” lineups, recent taller ball-handlers and creators have had tremendous success in the NBA game as well. Young stars like Giannis Antetokoumpo and Ben Simmons have enjoyed early success by how much their height, ball-handling, scoring and playmaking equity have created mismatches for their opponents.

While Doncic is not nearly the same level athlete, he falls into the archetype of a wing creator at 6’8″ and can run an NBA offense with ease. He’s a tremendous and creative passer, probably the second best in his class next to Trae Young, but you can make an argument he is the best.

Either way, Doncic is an elite level passer as a prospect, and will be a quality playmaker at the next level for his teammates. His elite vision out of the pick-and-roll is on display here where he fires a cross-court pass into the corner for a wide open 3. His ability to work off ball screens is one of the many positives in Doncic’s game.
