Highlights

Wesley Iwundu was a background player for the Magic in his rookie season. However, he still came away with a few highlights along the way.

Iwundu scored in double figures three times during the NBA season. The first time was when he dropped 12 points on Dec. 23 at the Washington Wizards. He did so on 5-for-8 shooting, adding two rebounds and a block to his ledger in the blowout loss.

Iwundu repeated the feat on Jan. 6 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. These 12 points came on 6-of-7 shooting, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. One particular play displayed all of Wes’ best abilities in one sequence: his defense, ability to run in transition, ball-handling and passing vision.

Early in the fourth quarter, Iwundu intercepted an Isaiah Thomas pass. He pushed the ball in transition, eluding Thomas at halfcourt with a behind-the-back move and topping it off with a lob to Aaron Gordon for the highlight slam.

Iwundu also had highlights at the G League level. He made a splash in his Nov. 10 debut against the Canton Charge, scoring 31 points and pulling down nine rebounds.

Eight days later, Iwundu nearly pulled off a triple-double at the Raptors 905. He notched 17 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and two steals.

Iwundu pulled off three double-doubles in the G League. The day after the 905 game, he dropped 23 points and grabbed 13 boards at the Westchester Knicks. He also went on to score 16 points and pull down 11 rebounds on Nov. 25 against the Wisconsin Herd.
