2. Decide who the franchise player is going to be

The Detroit Pistons have two players who could be considered franchise star-worthy. Andre Drummond is close to the best rebounder in the league. He can score near the rim and is a rim-protecting machine.

His numbers last year were tremendous. He collected 16.0 rebounds, 15.0 points, 3.0 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. Drummond shot the ball at an impressive 52.9 percent from the field. He has even worked on his free throw shooting, getting it up to a more respectable 60.5 percent.

The other player who is worthy of the franchise star tag is Blake Griffin. He is a versatile big man who can do almost anything on the court. In his 25 games for the Pistons, Griffin averaged 19.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game.

He is reasonably efficient, shooting 43.3 percent from the field. More importantly, Griffin spaces the floor with his 34.8 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

There are a couple of knocks on Griffin though. He had some injury problems and disciplinary issues while he was with the Clippers that could make teams hesitate to make him their franchise player. In his eight NBA seasons, he has played 80 games or more only three times.
