3. Dzanan Musa, SF — KK Cedevita (Croatia)

  • Height: 6’9″
  • Weight: 195 lbs
  • Age: 19

Arguably the most exciting prospect in this group, Dzanan Musa has made quite the name for himself in Croatia. Most of his fame comes from his ability to get buckets.

His 10.5 points per game don’t shock the world, but they’re coming in only 20.2 minutes on average. He is also not the primary option for KK Cedevita, so he only takes 7.5 shots per game.

When he does touch the ball, however, he is a threat from virtually anywhere. With his above-average size at 6’9″, that threat is heightened — literally. He can shoot over the average wing with ease, and his silky smooth stroke gives every shot a legitimate chance to go in. Musa’s 3-point percentage was not pristine at 36.4 percent, but the FIBA 3-point line is farther back than the NCAA line, which gives him an advantage in that department.

Beyond just sniping, Musa’s scorching-hot ceiling was thrilling to watch in action. His fearlessness with the ball had its J.R. Smith-esque drawbacks, but it also produced some riveting moments throughout the season, such as his semifinal game on Saturday:

Musa also possesses sneaky-good athleticism that allows him to attack closeouts and drive off the catch. His shot selection needs work, however, as he settles for far too many contested shots. In a less featured role, that’s likely to improve.

Musa is projected to go before No. 29 on certain sites, but his stock has fluctuated throughout the year, so it’s anyone’s guess how high he goes. Whoever drafts him will have to provide opportunity, patience and good developmental coaching for Musa to thrive.
