2. Dzanan Musa

  • Height: 6’9”
  • Weight: 195 lbs
  • Age: 19
  • Position: SF

Dzanan Musa is one of the only European players who is being talked about as a first round pick. Musa is a 19-year-old forward from Bosnia who plays in Croatia. He plays a high-level basketball overseas and could be a guy who could come and contribute right away, even though he is still young. He is an aggressive player on offense with great size for a wing. The Ringer labeled him as a “fearless scorer with a slippery style, though he’ll need to learn to play within the confines of an offensive system.”

This past season, Musa averaged 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 32.5 percent from the 3-point line. He has been playing professional basketball since 2015.

Musa could come in right away and play meaningful minutes for the Hawks. They could allow him to play a lot of minutes to develop and he would not have to be stressed about making a mistake and being pulled from the game.

Musa is mainly a wing player, but later on his career, he could maybe play some small-ball power forward. He has a ton of potential but has a chance to slip in this draft because he is a European player and not a guy who played college basketball and was seen on national TV a lot.

The Ringer compared Musa to Rodney Hood, a “jumbo Jordan Crawford” and Marco Belinelli. He is a guy who has a chance to be a 15 points per game scorer for many seasons in the NBA. At the pick No. 30, Musa would be a nice gamble for the Hawks.
