3. Kevin Huerter

  • Height: 6’7”
  • Weight: 194 lbs
  • Age: 19
  • Position: SG

Coming out of Maryland University, Kevin Huerter may be the best 3-point coming out in this draft class. He is excellent at hitting tough shots and has a deep range that will translate into the NBA. The Ringer labeled him an a “sharpshooting wing with range from deep and a feel for playmaking.”

In his sophomore season, Huerter averaged 14.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 34.4 minutes per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from the 3-point line.

The Hawks could use a shooting wing off the bench like Huerter. He tries hard on defense and has the potential to be one of the league’s best 3-and-D guys in a few seasons. He doesn’t have to be the go-to man and can play off the ball. The Hawks bought out Marco Belinelli during the season, and he left for the 76ers. The Hawks could now find their replacement shooter in Huerter.

The Ringer compared him to Allen Crabbe and a “discount Klay Thompson.” Both guys are excellent shooters, and obviously, Thompson is one of the best players in all of the NBA. It seems Huerter has two different paths he could go here. Regardless, he could be a tremendous value pick for the Hawks at No. 30.
