Atlanta Hawks: 5 options for pick No. 19 in 2018 NBA Draft
By Ty Delbridge
2. Chandler Hutchison
- Height: 6’7″
- Weight: 193 lbs
- Age: 22
- Position: SF
Chandler Hutchison had an excellent senior season that really put him on NBA scouts’ radars and has now guaranteed him to be a first round draft pick. Hutchison is a big wing who can handle the ball, shoot, slash and defend. The Ringer labeled him as a “late-blooming forward who carried a heavy load in college but projects as more of a 3-and-D role player in the NBA.”
In his senior season, Hutchison averaged 20.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 31 minutes per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from the 3-point line.
The Hawks could draft Hutchison and put him as their starting small forward for day one. His offensive skill-set and ability to defend multiple positions should allow him to see early minutes.
The Ringer compared him to Jared Dudley and Justin Anderson. Hutchison is a bigger guy who could play small forward and even some small-ball power forward for the Hawks. According to NBADraft.net, he has a promise from the Chicago Bulls at pick No. 22 to get drafted if he is available. The Hawks pick at 19 and could spoil those plans if they want to.
