Atlanta Hawks: 5 options for pick No. 19 in 2018 NBA Draft
By Ty Delbridge
3. Aaron Holiday
- Height: 6’1″
- Weight: 177 lbs
- Age: 21
- Position: PG
Aaron Holiday is looking to be the third Holiday brother drafted into the NBA. He is the younger brother of New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday and Chicago Bulls wing Justin Holiday. Aaron played three seasons at UCLA and is one of the best point guards in this draft class.
Last season at UCLA, Holiday averaged 20.3 points, 5.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 37.7 minutes per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from the 3-point line.
The Ringer labeled him as a “spark plug scoring guard who projects as a backup due to his lack of speed and explosiveness.” Holiday is a mature, competitive, high IQ basketball player who will likely be in the NBA for 10-plus years. He could come in and start for the Hawks right away or be a meaningful role player off the bench. He is an excellent ball-handler, passer and shooter.
The Ringer compared Holiday to Brandon Knight, Trey Burke and T.J. Ford. The Hawks’ current starting point guard, Dennis Schroder, apparently wants out of Atlanta. If the Hawks do trade him, they could draft Holiday as a solid replacement for the moment.
