1. Dzanan Musa, SF — Bosnia & Herzegovina

Dzanan Musa is the polar opposite of the other two wings I’ve already covered, at least in terms of their general status as prospects. While Hutchison and Bates-Diop are upperclassmen with significant experience, Musa is a young, high-upside prospect who carries considerable risk.

More specifically, he’s an international 19-year-old small forward who has all the makings of your classic boom-or-bust prospect. On one hand, he could turn out to be the next great thing to happen to San Antonio. On the other, he could pull a Jan Vesely and be out of the league in a few years.

If there’s anyone who can make the most of his upside, though, it’s Popovich.

The Spurs have a long history of hitting home runs with international players. A couple of recent names like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili come to mind. Musa could very well be next in line to take his talents to San Antonio and shine.

So what makes him worth the gamble? Well, Musa can score from anywhere, offers an outstanding size/athleticism combination and thrives in the pick-and-roll. Although he’s still raw and doesn’t figure to evolve into an NBA superstar overnight, there’s too much talent there to ignore.
