Milwaukee Bucks: 5 options for pick No. 17 in 2018 NBA Draft
The Milwaukee Bucks won a coin flip to keep their first round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. What are five options at pick No. 17?
The Milwaukee Bucks walked a tightrope down the end of the season, finishing seventh in the Eastern Conference and needing a coin flip to retain their protected first round pick. They did, however, and will get to add another first round talent this year while pushing their obligation to Phoenix further down the road.
The Bucks have been up-and-down in recent drafts, with some picks hitting and others missing wildly. The 2016 NBA Draft yielded Thon Maker and Malcolm Brogdon, one the hope of the future and the other an immediate contributor and starter. Yet 2015’s pick was wasted on Rashad Vaughn — already dumped in a trade — and 2017’s pick was used on D.J. Wilson, who showed nothing in his rookie season.
If Milwaukee is going to build a contender around its star forward in Giannis Antetokounmpo, the time is now to nail a draft pick. General manager Jon Horst is under pressure to hire the right coaching staff, make the best decisions with the current roster, and draft a player who can be relied upon for the next 6-8 years.
With the NBA Draft Lottery in the rearview mirror, the landscape in front of Milwaukee’s pick has come into more focus. What players could be available for the Bucks at pick No. 17? And who should they add to their team to set them up for success?
