Weaknesses

Harris doesn’t exactly have gaping holes in his game. He is a solid role player, and he does everything a complementary player should do.

One knock on his game revolves around shot creation. He is an excellent cutter and spot-up shooter, but he’s not the best at making space for himself. This is not an absolute necessity for Joe Harris to exist in the NBA, but it would behoove him to improve in this regard if he wants to earn more minutes as the Nets get more competitive.

We’ve seen how stagnant an offense gets when it lacks shot-creators, as evidenced by the Boston Celtics doling out a gentleman’s sweep to the Philadelphia 76ers. Philly had 2-3 guys who could somewhat create in the half-court, but not really anyone else, and it hurt them when a tenacious defense like Boston’s came around. Even J.J. Redick, the Sixers’ arguable third-best offensive player, could not alleviate this Markelle Fultz-sized hole.

Redick’s performance in these playoffs is akin to Harris’s current ceiling, as long as he is mostly relegated to shooting and cutting. But with some additional work in the space-creation department, Harris could have an even higher scoring ceiling.
