The Sacramento Kings were the biggest winners from the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery, and could get their perfect complement to De’Aaron Fox.

With the Sacramento Kings‘ surprising jump from No. 7 in the projected draft order to No. 2 at the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery, most articles ranking the team’s top prospects in the upcoming draft had to be rewritten.

The Kings have glaring holes in terms of wing defense, shooting and finding a secondary playmaker to relieve De’Aaron Fox of shouldering most of the creating duties. This draft class isn’t the strongest along the wing and is filled with big men that have teams as excited as ever to find their modern 5.

The problem with this is the Kings have invested plenty of capital into their frontcourt. Willie Cauley-Stein, Skal Labissiere and Harry Giles are three players that the Kings selected using first round picks and I doubt they’ll be quick to throw them aside. Giles sat out his rookie season and the other two have flashes of potential with Cauley-Stein finding his role in the rotation more than Skal.

This makes their options at the No. 2 pick confusing. There’s one clear player they are hoping to land (we’ll get to him later), but with the lack of wing talent around them, they face a choice of taking best player available and adding another big, or taking a wing earlier than they’re projected to go in order fill a role on their roster. These are my five options for the Kings to draft.
