Philadelphia 76ers: 5 options for pick No. 10 in 2018 NBA Draft
3. Wendell Carter Jr., C — Duke
The Philadelphia 76ers could have another chance to draft a Duke Blue Devils player with the 10th overall selection. Wendell Carter Jr. possesses a different skill-set but faces a similar scenario with the Sixers franchise.
His play in 2017-18 earned him All-ACC Second Team and All-Freshman team honors alongside Marvin Bagley III in the Duke frontcourt. He averaged 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 2.0 assists per game in his freshman year with the Blue Devils.
Carter posted performances of 20 points or more in four contests in 2017-18. He also posted two double-doubles across the same span. He finished his career second all-time among Duke freshman in blocked shots (76) as well as double-doubles (16).
Jahlil Okafor was the last Blue Devils big man Philadelphia selected back in the 2015 NBA Draft at third overall. Carter is a big man with touch in the paint and outside on the arc, but with Joel Embiid in the fold, playing time for him could come at a premium. If he’s still on the board at 10, Philadelphia may take a risk on him.
