2. Collin Sexton

Hearing what David Fizdale said about the type of player he wants immediately puts Collin Sexton into the conversation. Hard-nosed, defensive-minded, tough players are what Fizdale wants, and there isn’t a prospect that fits that bill more than Sexton in this year’s draft class.

There are rumblings that the Knicks are looking at Frank Ntilikina as more of a 2-guard than point guard after his rookie season. If that is the case, Sexton would make for an excellent complement to him in the backcourt.

Sexton is everything that Ntilikina is not offensively. He is a shot creator that can get into the paint and create havoc either as a scorer or distributor. He is extremely aggressive, something that Ntilikina lacked on offense. Sexton is competitive and a gamer, which would fit well in New York.

Look no further than what he did against Minnesota early in the season. Alabama ended up playing 5-on-3, but Sexton was out there battling until the final whistle.

Sexton does have to improve his consistency with his jump shot, but he has shown enough that there is promise there. His motor never stops, and he’s a good rebounder. His energy does need to be reeled in at times, but you can’t knock a player for hustling.

Sexton is the type of player that would immediately become a fan favorite in New York. His playing style will bring back memories of the 90s Knicks that fans dream about coming back.
