Los Angeles Clippers: 5 options for pick No. 13 in 2018 NBA Draft
2. Lonnie Walker IV, SG — Miami
Lonnie Walker IV is projected to be picked by the Clippers No. 13 overall in ESPN‘s latest mock draft.
Walker has the ability to put the ball on the floor and drive to the hole that will help him get to the line. He can shoot and make 3s in transition as well.
The best thing about Walker is his motor. He can play at a faster pace than anybody else on the court and he turns defense into offense with his 6’10” wingspan by getting in between passing lanes.
For a team like the Clippers that is lacking wing players, Walker would be a great fit. He looks like a player you can start into your lineup right now. The Clippers can give him the ball and he would be able to play from day one.
Walker is also young and can develop into more of a consistent player, but he will be the type of rookie to come in and do most of his learning on the court in live-game situations.
He has the height and motor of a Donovan Mitchell (Walker is a little more lankier) and if he is given a chance, he could be just that type of player one day.
Walker was not very efficient in college, shooting 41 percent from the field and about 34 percent from the 3-point line. However, one thing to be optimistic about is the fact that Mitchell and Walker had similar career collegiate scoring lines:
- Walker: 11.5 PPG, 41.5 FG%, 34.6 3P%
- Mitchell: 11.7 PPG, 41.8 FG%, 32.9 3P%
