4. Wendell Carter Jr., C — Duke

Wendell Carter Jr. is a Duke Blue Devils big man that possesses both skills inside and outside of the paint. He’s a player that fits exactly what the Dallas Mavericks are looking to do. Carter played in the shadow of fellow freshman and teammate Marvin Bagley III for much of 2017-18 but that didn’t stop him from producing at all.

He averaged 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 2.0 assists per game this past season for the Blue Devils. The 6’10”, 260-pound hybrid big man posted 16 double-doubles, including three in consecutive games during the regular season. He snagged a career-high 16 rebounds (seven offensive) against the Florida State Seminoles back on Dec. 30 in a 100-93 victory.

Outside of his knack for crashing the glass, Carter also has the ability to protect the paint, a coveted skill to have if you’re part of this year’s draft class. Depending on what’s available, the Mavericks would be crazy to pass up on him.
