The 2018 NBA Draft is on June 21 and after the draft lottery, the Dallas Mavericks finally know where they’re picking in this year’s draft: No. 5.

The 2018 NBA Draft Lottery has finally come and gone and the Dallas Mavericks hold the fifth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft after falling from the third-best odds to No. 5. They will have to June 21 to mull it over, with plenty of options to choose from at their position.

The Mavericks selected point guard Dennis Smith Jr. with the ninth pick in last year’s draft. Now they’ll need a scorer in the frontcourt to balance things out. Thankfully for them, there are a good number of versatile big men to choose from in this year’s class of prospects.

Nerlens Noel didn’t pan out, so it helped the team signed him to a one-year deal. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent this summer, leaving a hole in their frontcourt depth in the process.

Smith did well in his rookie season for Dallas but he needs an athletic big to work with from the pick-and-roll game to have any type of success. Many names come to mind when that description pops up like Texas center Mo Bamba and Duke’s big man duo of Wendell Carter Jr. and Marvin Bagley III, to name a few.

Considering where they stand, it’s pertinent the Dallas Mavericks look at fit here. There are a lot of freshman players loaded with potential for the organization to choose from. Here’s a look at five options for the Mavs with the fifth overall pick.
