4. Kevin Knox, SF/PF — Kentucky

Next up, I’d like to introduce you to Kevin Knox from the University of Kentucky. During his lone season with the Wildcats, Knox led the team in scoring with 15.6 points per contest and 3-point field goals with 57. He was also ranked second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.4 boards per outing.

Here’s a look at the tale of the tape via NBADraft.Net.

The Good:

  • At 6’9”, 218 pounds, Knox presents matchup problems for opposing teams.
  • Possesses the ability to score in the low post.
  • Can play effectively off the ball.
  • Excels in taking the ball to the basket. Can get one-handed floaters off over any defender.
  • Floor-spacing potential. Converted 34.1 percent of his attempts from 3-point range.
  • Improved from a defensive standpoint as the season progressed.

The Bad:

  • Inconsistent motor. Plays well when engaged, but can be a non-factor when that isn’t the case.
  • Has a tendency to lose focus when his shot isn’t falling.
  • Doesn’t always fight for rebounding position.
  • Lacks court vision. Keeps head down at times when handling the ball.
  • Has defensive lapses and could be at a speed disadvantage against small forwards at the NBA level.

The good news is Knox has the potential to be a decent contributor in a reserve role. On the other hand, he will need to play with a consistent effort on defense and tighten up his ball-handling skills in order to get any serious playing time in Chicago.
