Charlotte Hornets: 5 options for pick No. 11 in 2018 NBA Draft
2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, PG — Kentucky
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) is another Kentucky Wildcats option for the Charlotte Hornets to take with the 11th pick in the NBA Draft. SGA is a 6’6″ combo guard with the ability to score with or without the ball in his hands.
He emerged as Kentucky’s best player in 2017-18, averaging 20.1 points, 6.0 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game in the month of March.
His 29-point performance against the Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC championship game earned him the Most Valuable Player Award for the tournament. He was 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) from the floor along with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the victory.
SGA is another one of those Kentucky basketball prospects with tons of upside and in this scenario, and his versatility is an added plus. He’s a matchup nightmare waiting to happen on offense with his seven-foot wingspan.
He’s got underrated 3-point shooting ability as well after shooting 40.4 percent this past season. The Charlotte Hornets should keep an eye out for him as the NBA Draft Combine approaches.
