4. Collin Sexton, PG — Alabama

Alabama Crimson Tide point guard Collin Sexton is an explosive prospect with a scorer’s mentality. He has the potential to fill the void in the Charlotte Hornets’ backcourt, but he’ll need to learn to play off the ball.

Sexton poured in a career-high 40 points back on Nov. 25, Alabama’s first loss of the 2017-18 season. He was 12-of-22 shooting from the field and 4-for-7 from 3-point range, showing off his ability to fill it up. He also had six rebounds and five assists, although the Crimson Tide ultimately lost 89-84 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Sexton finished second in the SEC in points per game (19.2) and also averaged 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists through 33 appearances last year. He’s listed at 6’3″, but plays a lot bigger on the court.

One key attribute of Sexton’s is his ability to get to the free throw line. He finished second in the SEC in free throw attempts (252) this past season and second in the SEC in free throws made (196). Sexton averaged 7.6 free throws per contest and shot 10 free throws or more in 11 games as a freshman at Alabama.

Sexton is another potential ball-handler the Charlotte Hornets can add to their rotation and his ability to draw fouls on the defense is a plus. He’ll have to find a way to share the floor with Kemba Walker, which shouldn’t be too difficult, making him a solid selection at the 11th pick.
