No. 2 Luka Doncic

  • Height: 6’8″
  • Weight: 228 lbs
  • Age: 19
  • Position: SG/SF

Luka Doncic has been on NBA scouts’ radars for a few years now. He is only 19, but has been a professional for Real Madrid since he was 13. He is a lock to be a top-four pick in this year’s draft, if not top-two. The Ringer labeled him as “A basketball prodigy dominating the ACB and EuroLeague as a teenager who could become a game-changing NBA playmaker.”

Last season with Real Madrid, he averaged 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 31.0 percent from the 3-point line. He is a 6’8″ guard who can handle the ball, is a playmaker, can score and has a high basketball IQ on both ends of the court.

The Hawks need all the help they can get on their roster and especially in the backcourt. Current point guard Dennis Schroder is unhappy and could be traded this offseason. The Hawks could either start Doncic at the point guard or move him to shooting guard if they keep Schroder.

The Hawks then would have two young players to build around in both the frontcourt and backcourt with Collins and Doncic. The Ringer compared Doncic to James Harden, jumbo Manu Ginobili and Tyreke Evans. All three guys are bigger guards who can run the offense and are hard to match up with. If he somehow falls to No. 4, the Hawks would be thrilled to scoop him up.
