Despite proving to be virtually unbeatable at home all year long, the Houston Rockets managed to fall short late against the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals. Here are the three takeaways from Clutch City’s most recent outing.

On an evening where the Houston Rockets were seeking to draw first blood in their highly anticipated, best-of-seven series against the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant and his teammates appeared to have other plans in mind, as they went on a series of runs that would silence the 18,055 fans in attendance at the Toyota Center.

The 29-year-old forward poured in a team-high 37 points to help the defending world champions earn a 119-106 victory against Houston in Game 1 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals.

"“He’s one of the best scorers ever,” Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters following Durant’s stellar performance. “I thought he was extremely good.”"

Durant, who finished the night shooting 14-of-27 from the field, managed to receive significant contributions from his fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson, who finished with 28 points and connected on six triples to help the Warriors put together a 52.5 percent shooting night on the series opener.

James Harden led the way for the Rockets with a game-high 41 points, while Chris Paul added 23 points and 11 rebounds in a valiant effort.

Here are the three major takeaways from Clutch City’s most recent performance.
