Potential athletic testing stars

Anfernee Simons PG, — USA/IMG Academy

Simons most likely will have the same effect on the athletic testing as Hamidou Diallo. While his vertical may be impressive, Simons will most likely shine in the speed testing. One of the reasons why he is so valued is for his quick twitch fibers and overall speed. His vertical may be impressive too, but look for Simons to shine in the lane agility, shuttle run and three-quarter court sprint drills.

Zhaire Smith, SG — Texas Tech

Everybody in the whole gym will be extremely excited to Smith’s vertical. He practically has pogo sticks for feet and he may come very close to D.J. Stephens‘ record of 46 inches. Smith will shine in the agility drills as well. It is easy to see a team fall in love with all his athletic prowess and can boost his draft stock even more than he already has.

Mitchell Robinson, C — USA

I would imagine that Robinson skips the scrimmages since he is already a consensus first-rounder. Robinson should test out well in all portions of the combine athletically. He is extremely agile for his size and is an amazing leaper. Do not be surprised to see Mitchell Robinson close to the top of every athletic testing category out of all the big men.
