Denver Nuggets: 5 goals for the 2018 offseason
1. Build their game plan around Nikola Jokic
Denver got a lot out of Nikola Jokic in 2017-18. He’s a guy with MVP potential written all over him, now they just need to tap into that. At one point during the season, Jokic put up three triple-doubles in a row. Yet, the longest winning streak Denver put together was six games when the playoffs were on the line.
This team knows how to win but it has to realize it starts with Jokic touching the basketball. The Nuggets went 9-1 during the regular season when Jokic recorded a triple-double.
Surprisingly, Jokic finished as the Nuggets’ best defensive players in terms of net rating (+4.6) as well. He finished the season with a defensive rating of 108.0, fourth-lowest on the team.
It helps Paul Millsap finished with a 107.0 despite appearing in just 38 games in 2017-18. Millsap should play a much bigger role this upcoming season, and can hopefully help make up for Jokic’s flaws on that end of the floor.

Jokic’s biggest asset is his unselfish nature. Considering the shooters he’ll have around him next season, Denver should continue to build its roster around his playmaking abilities by adding even more shooting, defense and depth.
