3. Add depth to the roster

Free agency will have the Denver Nuggets’ 2018-19 season teetering in the wind, as a lot of their rise or fall will depend upon what happens this summer. First, they’ll need to re-sign Will Barton. Then, they’ll need to add at least one more player on the wing that can defend.

The Nuggets had veteran Richard Jefferson briefly last season, but his age won’t allow him to keep up with the athleticism in the West. Whether it’s in free agency or in the NBA Draft, Denver needs to add to its depth this offseason.

Wilson Chandler has a player option he can pick up this offseason, which could change things. Chandler has been an interesting piece in the Denver rotation. He’ll be 31 years old next season, so he could be a role player they try to move in the trade market.

He’s due to make roughly $12.8 million in 2018-19 if he does remain with the Nuggets, but they could find a trade if he opts in. They did well to acquire big man Juan Hernangomez in the draft, not to mention Devin Harris (expiring contract) for Emmanuel Mudiay while also gaining a second round pick.

It will be interesting to see if they get younger or choose to go the experienced route this offseason. They ran out of gas down the stretch, falling in overtime with the playoffs on the line, so it may be best to go with experience.
