The Denver Nuggets weren’t too far from the NBA Playoffs in 2017-18. With a few adjustments, they could be right back in the mix.

The Denver Nuggets didn’t make the postseason, as their 46-36 record wasn’t enough in the West to get the deed done. They were eliminated in overtime of the final game of the regular season, 112-106, by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Nuggets are right on the cusp of discovering their level of talent as an overall unit. They’re developing Jamal Murray from the off-guard position to point guard, making him a lethal combo threat in the process. Nikola Jokic remains their biggest asset, though. He led the team in scoring (18.5 points per game), rebounds (10.7 per game) and assists (6.1 per game).

Denver is a solid offensive team, that was no secret in 2017-18. The Nuggets finished sixth in the league in points per game (110.0) and offensive rating (109.6). It was their defense that needed the most adjustments. Overall, they finished with a net rating of +0.8.

They’re not far off from the promised land of postseason play, but their eyes should be on bigger things after seeing guys like Gary Harris and Will Barton develop. Here’s a look at some broad offseason goals for 2018.
