Here are three takeaways from the New Orleans Pelicans’ 119-100 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 to move within one game in the series.
The New Orleans Pelicans put on a dominant display in a 119-100 Game 3 win against the defending champion Golden State Warriors. The Pelicans’ first half lead hovered up 15 points before the Warriors trimmed the lead to six points at halftime. The Pelicans quickly pushed that lead back to 10 in the second half before cruising to a comfortable 19-point victory.
Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with a 33 points on 15-of-27 shooting from the field and 18 rebounds. Rajon Rondo continued his impressive playoff production with 10 rebounds and 21 assists as his backcourt partner Jrue Holiday contributed on both sides of the ball with a balanced stat sheet of 21 points (8-of-14 from the field), seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks.
It was a rough shooting night for the Warriors, with Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant combining to go 7-for-24 from the 3-point line.
Draymond Green only took eight shot attempts, but notched a triple-double and another on-court encounter with Rondo, prompting an interesting response in the postgame press conference when asked if he’s baiting the Pelicans point guard.

The Warriors maintain a 2-1 lead in the series, but the Pelicans have won their three postseason home games by a combined 44 points and are having no trouble scoring against Golden State the last two games. New Orleans rode the solid shooting of their role players, which is where we begin our Game 3 takeaways.
