1. The Wizards roster needs some work

Whether you’re a diehard fan or John Wall himself, you know this group needs some re-tooling and re-vamping. During the regular season, locker room discussions didn’t work, nor did discussing anything about it with the media.

The truth is, the Washington Wizards have made some rather questionable investments, namely in Ian Mahinmi and Marcin Gortat, which have come back to haunt them. Mahinmi still has two seasons left on his four-year, $64 million contract while Gortat has just one year left on his $60 million deal he signed back in July of 2014.

As small-ball takes over the league, Washington is in dire need of a stretch-big that can shoot the 3 and also protect the paint. Gortat isn’t shooting 3-pointers anytime soon and neither is Mahinmi.

Hopefully, the Wizards are busy this summer trying to unload Marcin Gortat and his expiring contract. Gortat’s deal will be enticing for teams looking to free up cap space in the 2019 offseason, but for the Wizards, it allows them to evolve a bit. They are in need of a change this summer.
