4. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mike Scott were the best reserves

Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mike Scott were the Washington Wizards’ biggest assets off the bench in 2017-18. Oubre averaged 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest in 81 appearances for Washington. In 76 appearances, Scott averaged 8.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game on 40.5 percent shooting from behind the arc.

Oubre looked good in his third season in the league. He continues to improve his game, shooting 34.1 percent from 3-point range after shooting 28.7 percent in 2016-17. He put up a career-high 26 points against the Detroit Pistons back on Jan. 19 off the bench. The third-year wing was 9-for-14 from the floor and 5-for-9 from the 3-point line in the 122-112 victory. His defensive performance was up and down, but it’s something he can focus and improve on this summer.

Scott was instant offense off the bench for the Washington Wizards this season. His performance improved as he was given more opportunities and it paid off in the playoffs.

In the postseason, Scott was the Wizards’ third-leading scorer with 10.8 points per game. Where Otto Porter Jr. didn’t show up, Oubre and Scott did. Now, Washington has to find a way to keep Mike Scott on the payroll in 2018-19. He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
