Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 takeaways from Game 2 vs. Raptors
By Ryan Piers
Everything was clicking for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they torched the Toronto Raptors in Game 2. Their two stars stepped up when it counted.
It’s been a grueling couple of weeks for LeBron James. He’s averaging 41.9 arduous minutes per game in the playoffs, absorbing brutal blows from opponents on a nightly basis. Since the Cleveland Cavaliers took seven games to dispatch Indiana, James has hardy had two straight days off.
The same goes for his teammates, although they don’t take the same beating. Yet, here they are up 2-0 against the best team in the Eastern Conference, flying back to Cleveland for a chance to sweep the series. A mini-vacation would be welcomed after the past couple weeks.
In Game 2, Cleveland sauntered in the early going, relying on Kevin Love to keep the score close. Of course, James made his mark, but played the role of facilitator.
As halftime approached, Cleveland gained steam. Spurred by Love and James, the Cavaliers blitzed Toronto with a 16-9 run to end the first half, trimming the Raptors’ lead to two at the break. Toronto would be losing before their first shot in the second half.
