Highlights

Taking into consideration how well Markkanen played this season, there was no shortage of games to pick from in which he stood out. Let’s go back to an early season matchup against the San Antonio Spurs back on Oct. 21.

In that contest, Markkanen scored 13 points (on 5-for-14 shooting) and pulled down 12 rebounds. No, his shooting numbers were not overly impressive, but considering that he recorded a double-double in just his second NBA game, it was a positive indicator of what kind of player the Bulls acquired early on.

Another solid outing occurred in a late November matchup against the Phoenix Suns. Although the Bulls went on to lose the game 113-105, Markkanen concluded the evening with 26 points and 13 rebounds, both of which were team highs.

The most memorable moment from Markkanen’s rookie season was his debut at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 10.

In that contest, Markkanen poured in a season-high 33 points and converted eight of his 15 attempts from 3-point range. Thanks to his effort, the Bulls managed to escape with a 122-119 double overtime victory, snapping their four-game losing skid in the Big Apple.
