Weaknesses

One of the down sides about Lopez’s season was that he was not very good rebounder by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, he collected just 4.5 boards per outing.

As far as patrolling the glass goes, you want these numbers to be a bit higher for the guy who is tasked with protecting the paint. Not only that, but five players finished ahead of Lopez in this category. The list includes David Nwaba, Denzel Valentine, Bobby Portis, Noah Vonleh and Markkanen, who led the Bulls with 7.5 boards per game.

It’s also worth noting four those five players came off the bench. Enough said.

Another somewhat concerning trend is that Lopez averaged just 0.8 blocks per contest. This marked the third consecutive season in which his numbers have declined in that category.

At this stage of his career (just completed 10th NBA season), it is highly unlikely that Lopez will improve in either of these areas. On the bright side though, the good certainly outweighs the bad.
