Final grade

All in all, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had a promising season. Considering his complete uselessness on offense when he first came into the NBA, his acquired skill as a point-forward is nothing to sneeze at.

Additionally, his cathartic flaw as a mediocre shooter might end up saving the Nets. He is targeted for restricted free agency next offseason, and the team can extend him this summer. Brooklyn might be able to get him at a discount before he enters free agency, solely off the basis that he can’t shoot.

His progress deserves its own grade, which I would consider a B+. He made several strides as an improv point-forward, slasher, and versatile defender. In a small-ball lineup, he is becoming more and more useful as the nominal “4.” Considering the plethora of guards and wings on the Nets’ roster, that ability to slide up a spot is quite advantageous.

As for his actual grade, I give him a B-. He still has a ton of work to do offensively, and until his shooting improves, he will be a liability on that end for the Nets. Placing him around shooters only goes so far, especially when one of the most valuable contributors on the roster is a non-shooting big.
